Melanie Moore
Founder and President
Melanie Moore is the Founder and President of Healing Hearts Through Hooves, LLC and the owner of Ol’ Mel’s Farm in Deville, Louisiana. A registered nurse with over 25 years of experience in ICU, dialysis, and telemetry care, Melanie has witnessed firsthand the profound effects of trauma, stress, and grief on individuals and families.
Driven by both professional experience and personal passion, she created the foundation to offer a peaceful, restorative environment where individuals can heal through meaningful connection with animals, nature, and community.
Amanda Lluvera
Vice Chair
Amanda Lluvera is a United States Army veteran, EMT, certified yoga instructor, and experienced horsewoman. As the owner of Harmony Equestrian Services and Bar 60 Ranch, she brings a unique combination of military, medical, and equine expertise.
Amanda plays a vital role in program development, helping design and guide equine-assisted experiences that foster mindfulness, emotional healing, and personal growth for participants.
Richard Moore
Treasurer
Richard Moore is a United States military veteran with over 20 years of service, including deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan. His leadership and dedication to service continue through his role as Treasurer of the foundation.
He oversees financial stewardship, ensuring transparency, accountability, and responsible management of donations, grants, and sponsorship funds. His commitment to supporting veterans and families is deeply aligned with the foundation’s mission.
Meagen Sheriff
Secretary
Meagen Sheriff is an experienced horse owner, rider, and equestrian competitor with a strong background in equine care and management.
Meagen has an Associate of Science Agribusiness degree from Casper college in Casper, Wy and Master Equine Management certification through University of Ga.
As Secretary, she is responsible for maintaining organizational records, supporting governance and compliance, and ensuring the foundation operates with strong administrative structure and integrity.
Misty Richardson
Board Member
Misty Richardson was raised with horses and has witnessed firsthand the deep, healing bond between animals and people, As an Administrative Coordinator with the LSU AgCenter, she works daily with 4-H youth and has seen how involvement with animals builds confidence, responsibility, and emotional growth in young people. Her passion for animal-assisted healing is also deeply personal, having seen the positive impact animals have had on her own son, who is on the autism spectrum. Misty is honored to serve on the Healing Hearts Through Hooves board and is committed to supporting programs that use animals to heal, inspire, and empower others.
